PARTS-PUBLISHER 5 now available
The trendsetter and highlight among spare parts catalogues
|
|
|
With version 5.0 of PARTS-PUBLISHER, the established software for electronic spare parts catalogues,
Docware sets new benchmarks. Innovative design and architecture, best performance,
a maximum of flexibility and many other features characterise PARTS-PUBLISHER. In its new outfit -
the user interface was streamlined - PARTS-PUBLISHER, even faster, more flexible and equipped
with many practice-oriented improvements, covers a large range of applications.
All is possible: from the manual catalogue production to a fully automated solution.
And special attention was paid to the linking to third party systems. New standard interfaces
simplify the integration of the spare parts catalogue with third party systems.
The interfaces to SAP ERP, SAP PLM, SAP CatManSuite, CoCreate Model Manager and to many ECAD systems
deserve particular notice.
Integration of schematics (electro-documentation, hydraulic diagrams, etc.)
The new PARTS-PUBLISHER module „Schematics“ enables the broad integration of electro and other diagrams
with the spare parts catalogue. That is how the PARTS-PUBLISHER spare parts catalogue
turns into an all-round information and ordering system for service technicians.
Efficient error search, spare part search and ordering are comfortably supported
in all areas - mechanics, electronics, pneumatics and hydraulics - in a professional manner.
Electro projects are transferred fully automatic from the CAE system to PARTS-PUBLISHER via new interfaces,
operating as a plug-in in the particular CAE system. All information necessary for an efficient navigation
in the electro documentation are exploited. And also the processing of electro projects -
such as placing of hotspots and linking related information - with the PARTS-PUBLISHER Workbench
is effected automatically as it is common in the mechanical area. The schematics viewer of PARTS-PUBLISHER
offers many features that excellently support the procedure of trouble-shooting:
- Display of the drawing sheets like in the mechanical catalogue area
- Navigation via tree view
- Hotspots on drawing sheets of EIS (equipment identifying symbol) and contacts
- References, hyperlinks, signal tracing, display of all linked elements to the particularly selected EIS
- Own dialogue for EIS search
- Display of additional information to the particular EIS (also originating from the CAE system)
- Link between mechanical and electrical information: if appropriate link information (EIS in the mechanical parts list, or material number in the schematic) is available you can jump back and forth between the mechanical spare parts catalogue and the schematic.
- Search for EIS via search page and quick search
Integration Arbortext IsoView
Docware integrated Arbortext IsoView of PTC with PARTS-PUBLISHER.
The intelligent graphic viewer allows for displaying CGM and ISO formats and interacting with them.
Arbortext IsoView is supported by the CD and also by the Internet catalogue.
3D catalogues: integration of further viewers, support of new viewer versions
Also in the range of 3D PARTS-PUBLISHER is entering new dimensions.
Using more 3D viewers that are integrated more profoundly than any other spare parts catalogue software can,
PARTS-PUBLISHER offers a maximum of flexibility in integrating 3D models with the spare parts catalogue.
3D data can be displayed and used interactively in the catalogue with XVL Player (Lattice), JT-Viewer,
3DVIA Composer and Arbortext IsoView in XVL, JT, 3DVIA and/or ISO format.
Substitution
The feature „History“ already a content of the last version was enhanced and is now called „Substitution“.
This function provides information about the part life cycle (parent parts, follow-up parts, exchanged parts).
The catalogue user learns e.g. if the selected part has to be replaced by another one,
if there are several materials available for replacement and if the substitution
takes place everywhere or only in special assembly areas. The existence of information
about the part life cycle is marked with an icon „S“ in the parts list.
When clicking on it the window „additional information“ with the category „Substitution“ is opened.
- Display of the substitution information as a multi-level list of exchanged parts
- Marking of different replacement/exchange modes (simple, multiple, alternative)
High speed
Page reproduction of the Internet catalogue (J2EE) as well as the search in the CD
and Internet catalogue became faster. The accelerated page reproduction of the search in the Internet
catalogue is based on Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML). Usually a HTML page has to be reloaded
to display a page with a new content. With Ajax only parts of a HTML page have to be refreshed,
which shortens the set-up time considerably. And also the support of another database, namely „H2“,
makes a contribution to the PARTS-PUBLISHER CD to be even faster and increasingly powerful.
Search: faster and more user friendly, more configuration possibilities
The search function of the catalogue was enhanced and the search performance improved by an additional
search index. An advantage of the new search is that the wildcard behaviour is freely configurable.
Also new is that you can search in documents via meta data - this means via characteristics that describe
or classify specific data. So it is now for instance possible to reduce the search for a term that it is only
effected within a determined type of document. The full text search already a content of older versions
of the catalogue software can now be combined with the search via meta data.
For the combined search a search field with all contents is available.
A further enhancement regards the hit list. Not only the search term but also its context in the found
document is displayed.
Extended print function
For the creation of PDFs from the Workbench or from the CD catalogue you no longer need
the Adobe Acrobat Distiller. Furthermore the grouping of text into print areas is supported.
Ordering function
The shopping cart of PARTS-PUBLISHER was redesigned. You may now display additional data in an arbitrary
column in the ordering list. Additionally it is possible to incorporate parts from schematics
into the shopping cart.
Redesign PARTS-PUBLISHER MOBILE
The user interface of the PARTS-PUBLISHER solution for PDA and smartphone now is finger-friendly.
You do not need the stylus any longer. The handling by finger is possible via a new icon bar that can be
displayed on the left or right side of the display additionally to the main menu of the last version.
Font size in parts list and tree view is now scalable. New is the display of „Enum“ and „Boolean“ values
in the parts list as icons. The „Boolean“ type needed for displaying two values can for example be applied
for marking spare parts in the parts list as „available“ and „not available“.
A practical application for „Enum“ - a data type for the display of an arbitrary value from a
definitive number of values that form an enumeration type - is the marking of the affiliation to a
definite product series. This can be symbolised in the parts list by for example different colours.
Another innovation is the note function. With the new PARTS-PUBLISHER MOBILE version users can now
integrate their own notes into the catalogue. Possible are e.g. error messages, information on reconstruction
or construction level modifications and application experiences. Notes can be entered directly
with the appropriate assembly or with the part. Attachments are possible. So for example photos
taken with the PDA can be directly integrated into the catalogue. Integrated notes in the PDA
catalogue can - if desired - be exported to the CD or Internet catalogue.
We would be pleased to inform you about further novelties and improvements of PARTS-PUBLISHER
5 that regard for instance the update management of the catalogues CDs via Internet, the shop module „PARTS-SHOP“,
the print catalogue, the Edit function for an interactive catalogue creation and new interfaces.
